Maths days and half-days
A level Maths and Further Maths
We can provide maths days, half days and other sessions by VC for any number of students. We are also happy to put on a series of short VCs over a period of a few weeks or months, or a pair of VCs at the beginning and end of a maths week, or any other enrichment activity you would like. If you wish to invite other schools in to share an enrichment day or session, the cost will be split between the participants.
To book a session
- Decide on what topic(s) (primary topics) (secondary topics) you want or whether you want to ask us if we can provide a topic of your choice.
- Look at our calendar and choose some available dates which would suit you - please DO NOT assume that if a date appears to be free, that it actually is!
- Optional - email motivate@maths.org to discuss your needs further.
- Submit the booking form.
Cost of enrichment sessions
As specified below, but generally:
- £120 for up to 1 hour
- £170 for up to 90 minutes
- £220 for up to 2 hours
- £450 for a full day
Short Enrichment Sessions
These are suitable for a double lesson in secondary school or the numeracy hour in a primary school, and will include:
- a live VC for the duration of the session
- all materials required for the session
- follow-up resources
Cost (2009-2010): £120 for up to 1 hour, £170 for up to 90 minutes, £220 for up to 2 hours.

Maths Days and Half-Days
We can provide a Maths Day or Half-Day organised like our one-day conferences. We start with an interactive videoconference followed by a longer task to be done off camera. Students then return to camera to feedback on what they have done, and to move forward in the topic during another interactive VC session. This cycle will continue throughout the day or half-day, ending in a short presentation from the students on what they have learnt or achieved. Where appropriate, the final activity of the day will be an interactive game, based on the day's topic.
We provide:
- all activities for a day or half-day or other time to suit, with live interactive VC sessions and longer tasks to be done off camera
- resources for longer tasks set on the Motivate website and tailored to the requirements of the students involved
- supporting materials provided as required
Cost (2009-2010): £450 for a day (10.00-15.00), other times by arrangement but in line with the cost of a shorter session (£120 for up to 1 hour, £170 for up to 90 minutes, £220 for up to 2 hours)
Any of the topics in the tables (primary topics) (secondary topics) above can be adapted for a full day. Alternatively, we would be happy to discuss the curriculum areas you want to cover or topics which could be linked with other curriculum areas.
A Level Maths and Further Maths enrichment days
We can provide enrichment days to help students see links between topics, their relevance to maths in general and their applications. These will be led by experienced Further Maths teachers or by mathematicians with research interests in the relevant area.
We provide:
- all activities for a day or half-day or other time to suit, with live interactive VC sessions and longer tasks to be done off camera
