Imperial War Museum Duxford

Peter Halford is the Learning Officer (Science and Technology), Department for Learning, Imperial War Museum Duxford.

Peter's career spans forty years covering a wide range of roles giving him insight into most areas of education and training from pre-school to higher education, teaching to management and consultation.

Having left school at fifteen Peter was an apprentice in the construction industry before training as a primary school teacher. Art
was his main subject but soon the links between art and design and design and technology became the focus of his work. Since leaving mainstream education Peter worked as an educational adviser, inspector and consultant eventually running his own business helping teachers and students across East Anglia with design, technology, science, ICT, art and craft.

A contract to advise on science and technology educational activities at the Imperial War Museum Duxford led to Peter's present post in which he has developed an extensive programme of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities and events involving thousands of students each year. Duxford is now established as a local, regional and national centre for STEM.

The current Video Conferencing project is another example of the continuing developments at Duxford.
